For graphic design, we were tasked with choosing from a list of pre-written business names and then creating a letterhead system along with a logo design.  I took inspiration from 1920's art deco.
Above is the business card design for "Déjà vu vintage."  I became inspired by the writer Christopher Isherwood and used minor references to his life and work in the business card.
Above is the business envelope and similar with the business card; there are subtle references to both Isherwood and a small tourist attraction in Washington, D.C in the Georgetown neighborhood.
For the final project of graphic design, we where assigned to create an original book cover.  This was at the same time I was regularly listening to the soundtrack of the musical Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda.  This musical was also based on the biography of Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow so i designed the follow up biography of Aaron Burr; the politician who shot Hamilton in their Weehawken duel.
One of our longest assignments in graphic design was a semester long project where we would look over different periods in the history of graphic design and create posters in the respected style.  The challenge of the assignment was that we had to choose a theme for our series of posters (I.E movie posters).  I chose to do well known side show acts.  Above is the bearded woman in the style of Toulouse Lautrec.
Conjoined Twins in the style of Saul bass during the 1960's.  I was inspired by his work for the film 'West Side Story'
The Elephant Man in the style of 1914 World War One propaganda posters.
I took an illustration course a few years ago.  This was not a planned assignment, instead a representative of a nearby hospital had contacted my professor asking if our class would  be interested in creating infographic cards based on a list of different medical symptoms.  However, the graphics were to use limited words as we would be designing these for parents who had limited reading capability.  I chose febrile seizures using mixed media by scanning in traditional sketches and colored in with Photoshop.
